I found it very amusing seeing you all in Salem. My question is , do you honestly believe God is watching over and taking down names of everyone in a coustume? I’m sure he must be very busy. Hmm cause if the good lord was then that’s ALOT of people. You’re going to tell me that around 2,000 people are doomed just because they wore a mask? I doubt and hope our savior has a little bit more on his agenda then Halloween. What about the kids that night? Are you going to tell me that a 6 year old dressed as a fairy is going to Hell? If wanting to look like a group of whack jobs , then you people had great costumes that night. It’s Halloween. No one was burning the cross , sacrificing a pig , or even remotely close to anything “satanic”. And before you comment , I’m well aware of the origins of this holiday. On Halloween I took my daughter to Salem for trick r treat. And for you people to call me sinner because I wanted to see my daughter happy is stomach turning. Take a step back and that rode out of your butt , you people don’t speak for the lord.
Thanks for your honest comment. You also wrote ” my question is “, and then asked 4 questions. In your comment you have not identified yourself as to what it is you believe, although your conclusion is that we did not speak for the “Lord”- I infer from this you have a notion of Lord, and some thoughts as to what He Would say. My question is, where would you acquire the content of what this Lord said. Is your disagreement then with the Bible and if so; by what authority would you argue against the Bible apart from “your” feelings.
Oct 31 is the day you have addressed,
although the Bible declares that God judges every man every day, every word, thought, and deed. Not that He is busy or worried, but because we were made in His image, and in Him we live and breathe and exist. God’s judgment will be on your reflection of His character. That’s what sin is; anything we do, say, or think that doesn’t reflect God’s pure, holy, righteous character- is sin. You made a conscious decision this year regarding how to spend your time on this date, as well as setting an example for your child. You claim to be well aware of the origins of what you call a holiday, yet partake of it. In doing so you brought your child to a place where she would not only see what you call whack job preachers reading from a Bible and pleading for souls, but she would also see the many others dressed in garish, immoral, or obscene costumes, and hear obscenities, and witness first hand drunkeness and depravity. Your thoughts on satanic activity as sacrificing pigs or burning crosses is indeed shallow. I would say that anyone knowing the origins of the celebration and partaking in it are involved in it, not to mention those who profit there from palm reading, tarot card reading, spell casting, and all those involved in Wicca, both male and female are engaging in satanic activity.
You wrote ” our Savior ” identifying yourself as ” saved”. What would you testify to being saved from: sin, pride, worldliness? This Saviour of men will be the judge of all men. Certainly I will be judged for my time spent that night. And my desire was to proclaim the name of Jesus, and to share the Gospel at Salem. And everyone else that went to Salem to partake in The festivities will be judged also. And I know that the Judge of all the earth will do right.
Hi, thanks for ruining Salem on Halloween with your idiotic preachings. It was hilarious watching people stand up to you jesus guys. You know what you should do the next time you want to picket and preach things like that all day and all night? Sit back and think, “Hm, do I want to look like a complete fool today? Or do I want to keep my mouth shut and not hurt random people with my words?” I think the latter would be the most beneficial! Goodbye! (:
Thanks for commenting. I know not everyone is a Christian, and that many are offended when the Bible is quoted or there is any mention of sin or of the judgment to come.
First, I would ask if you will acknowledge that the streets of Salem are public, and therefore if some have the right to party on the streets, others would have the same right to speak freely, even if you disagree with the message. If you acknowledge that, then I would comment that many ruined Saturday night in Salem with their drunkenness, profanity, and lewdness.
Second, because I know the Bible is true, and the judgment of God will fall on many, resulting in an eternal punishment, it would be hateful to stand by silently, without sharing the truth or warning of the wrath of God promised for those who die without repenting and without faith in Jesus Christ. I would say that a sincere love would warn of impending danger, but I say this knowing you may disagree. You may let your friends drive drunk, shake their babies, or beat their wives, as long as they don’t bother you, that’s most beneficial for you.
Third, Have you considered why so may people who came to party in Salem spent so much time, fighting, railing, mocking God’s word, and mocking Christians who believe God’s word. It is a fairly large blocked off area to party, but many spent a portion of their party night gathered around a preacher. If they really believed there was no God, why would they not then simply eat, drink, and be merry, knowing that by tomorrow some of them may have perished. It would not make sense to me except what the Bible reveals about the nature of men and women apart from Jesus Christ. He was crucified without cause, for He was without sin, and there was never any doubt that His miracles were amazing, He fed the poor, healed the sick, cast out demons, yet He was betrayed into the hands of the Romans, and though the man who sentenced Him to death found Him not deserving death, he was crucified with criminals. An irrational hatred can only be the cause; and I would say that is what goes on each year in Salem. All men know God exists because He created them, but they suppress the knowledge of God – because of an irrational hatred for the God they say can’t exist. Or some hate the true God revealed in the Bible as holy, righteous, and just, and love the god of their emotions, who they fabricate to suit their lifestyle.
The fourth point is as to what you call foolish behavior. We both were present at Salem, and we disagree on what foolish behavior is. To read aloud from the Bible or to preach a message of salvation would not be considered foolish behavior on Sunday morning where Christians are present. Clearly this becomes foolish to you when the message is preached on Saturday to non Christians. It is written in the Bible that the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. Now what I saw at Salem was not foolishness in an intellectual way, but in a moral way. What I saw were many men and women acting shamefully, a public display of depravity on a public street, where sadly enough there were children present. If you have ever spent any time reading the Bible, you would have understood that God sends believers out among the non believers, to preach, to teach, to be a light in the darkness. Jesus sends those He saves out into the world to preach repentance and remission of sins. Don’t you think He knew what it would be like to preach in areas like Salem, where men and women are so enslaved to their sin even loving their son even although it destroys their lives and their families; but they cling to it, and hate the idea that God would deliver them from what they take pleasure in? Although God knows what is best for them, they demonstrate their hatred for Him saying ” This God will not reign over me”.
How about you sir. Could it be the real motivation for your hostility, and your opposition to free speech ( when it is the Gospel), and for calling anyone who thinks differently than you a complete fool, is that you have a sin you cling to, a sin you know you couldn’t give up, so you claim you own it and love it- even though it owns you and it will destroy you? You say Halloween in Salem was ruined for you by preaching. Could you be honest enough to say how much in your life has been ruined by sin? I urge you to consider what God has done to deliver His people from sin. He sent His own Son to die on a cross after living a sinless life, obedient to God even to death on a cross, so that through His death our sins could be forgiven, and through His resurrection we could be justified. Those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved, but those who do not believe shall be condemned. I plead with you now sir, on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that if you were out in Salem, MA near the corner of Washington St. and Essex St. we saw you (my church) and took much encouragement from the message that you spoke despite the crowd. I don’t know If you would remember us but we were all dressed a certain way and saw the crowds reaction. I actually first saw you guys back in Sept. I think at the Umass Boston campus and I talked to one of your members. It wad then that I learned that you were going to be in Salem like we were. Be encouraged man of God the safest place to be is in His will, don’t stop. Feel free to contact me in case you will be in the area again.
Hello, Thank you so much for the encouragement. Often in places like Salem there is not much encouragement. So for you to say a kind word is like offering a cool glass of water to someone who is in a desert place, so much appreciated. But we also know that in God’s wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the foolishness of what we preach to save those who believe. And we pray and ask God to save souls, knowing this causes even angels to rejoice. I hope you also will pray for the souls that are lost there in Salem and Boston,. May the seed planted there be granted growth and increase, and pray the enemy does not steal the seed scattered there. I had some deep, meaningful conversations in Salem. I pray that God would do such a mighty work there, even non Christians, even atheists would be amazed and glorify God.
Thanks again,
Don
